Six things about me

Cuz i got tagged by disbandedtoastr

The player of this game starts with the "6 weird things or habits about yourself." People who get tagged will have to post a blog telling their 6 weird things or habits as well. Make sure to post this rule clearly! At the end of your 6 weird/things/habits, you need to choose 6 people that you would like to be tagged and write their names down.

1) i had amnesia - both short and long term. the short term only lasted a day and a half but i lost a week of long term memory which slowly came back over the course of the month. now i got it all back except for two days which i've been told will never return.

2) my car is named VIN Diesel because it's a diesel and VIN for Vehicle Identification Name instead of Number. I really want a pair of Riddick glasses to hang from my rear view mirror.

3) every room in my house is painted a different color.

4) i've had a poem published! way way way back in college and quite possibly because my friend was one of the editors but still, i'm really happy about it. it's about a parrot.

5) i cannot stand to have clutter on a table in a restaurant. i must clear away empty sugar packets and stack dishes. Toaster once ripped up a napkin into fifty or so little pieces and scattered them all over a table while i was in the bathroom just to see my reaction when i returned.

6) i have "performance anxiety" in public bathrooms - so much so that i compose poems and songs about water and peeing in an effort to get my mind off my anxiety and get my mind on liquids. some day i will record my version of the Beatles song "Dear Prudence" called "Dear Bladder"

Okay, to tag or not to tag...
who hasn't Toaster tagged ? feel no pressure but...

I don't think I've ever known a real person who had amnesia before. What caused it?

i never got my $20 back
apparently i fell off a horse!

buck's version of the story is my horse stopped and nothing any of us did got him moving again. so tom switched horses with me but never adjusted the stirrups. my new horse started going then decided to go back to the stable and not having good footing when he turned around i slide right off.

i actually lost about a month's worth of memory - i don't know why i wrote a week. I got it all back except for about 24 hours where the doctor said my brain was too jumbled to be able to remember it plus, if it could, it would probably shut out the experience because it was tramatic.

it happened on the 4th of july 1988 - i know this because after i got my memory back i was really angry that i missed the fireworks. a guy i liked invited me on a date to go horseback riding with him, his brother, and his aunt. so i have three versions of what happened. my only memories of the experience are getting in the car, it costing $10 for 30 minutes or $20 for an hour and i only had a $20 so i tried to talk them into just the 30 minute ride (I fell of within 15 minutes so I must have been psychic), a sensation of bouncing while yelling woah woah woah woah (no visual for that, just a feeling - tom and his aunt said i never yelled woah, buck said i did. that's why i believe buck's version of the story), and a snapshot image of phone lines and dirt with the impression that I thought the area should have been more pastural and pretty for a horseriding experience.

my next memory is waking up in the hospital with my best friend dionne holding my right hand and laughing, my other best friend suzan holding my left hand an crying, tom slinking around in the back corner of the room, and my mom standing behind sue. then i was out again. i came to again some time later and panicked over an air bubble in my iv, and i was back to myself after that. mom explained that for a day and a half i repeated "what happened? did i fall off a horse? my short term memory is shot!" over and over because i would forget i said it. dionne was laughing because just at that moment i was showing signs of recovering (no one knew if i was going to stay like that) and mom was so relieved that when I asked if i'd fallen off a horse for the 8 millionth time she said "no, you fell out of an airplane".

it was really weird. my friends kept telling me things we did during that time to help the memories come back. for years after that anytime a horse appeared on tv/movies someone would yell "what happened Ape? Did you fall off a horse?..." And once when i was telling tom something about my dad's family he interrupted and described them perfectly - i was stunned and he explained because after i fell off he took me back to the stable while buck and his aunt finished their ride since they still had 45 mintues! so he and I sat at the stable while i talked about my Uncle Vernon's farm (horses & stables) over and over forgetting that i had already said the exact same thing and beat their descriptions into tom's brain. then he dropped me off at my mom's, said I'd fallen, and ran. mom teased me saying "hope you will do okay on your psychology test tomorrow" my response of "what test?" triggered a bunch of other questions (remember college? nope. remember graduating from high school? nope.) revealing the amnesia and she took me to the hospital. another reason why i believe buck's story - if Tom didn't even realize i needed to go to the hospital how could i believe his observation of the ride.

short term memory damage is a SCARY thing. my mom's stories about that were awful. the long term damage was interesting, though.

Re: i never got my $20 back
Wow, that's freaky. I'm so glad you got back mostly to normal.

ok...here ya go...
1. I am very obsessive about getting dressed. It has to be left leg in pants and left shoe first. I feel out of balance if it is any other way.

2. My dreams, aside from being very movie like and odd, are almost always in black and white

3. The thoughts in my head are a mixed combination of movie clips, pictures and words.

4. I base my tip for a server on the first 5 minutes of being sat

5. I have a habit of starting 10 different things and not finishing half of them.

6. ...

Re: ok...here ya go...
you are brilliantly funny.

i have a tendency to put my left sock on, then my left shoe, then my right sock on, then my right shoe, i started doing it after hearing Oprah's guest read from their book of statistics saying that 90% of people put on both socks then both shoes. i don't know if i revolted to be among the 10% or if i'd always done that and just never thought about it before. i stayed among the majority who has the toilet paper hang down on the outside instead of the inside. it's just crazy to hang it the other way.

i need to make an OCD icon for us.

the dreams and thoughts revelations are really interesting!!! i don't think i've had a black and white dream.

Yeah, it is kinda annoying to be so normal. But at least in my head I am odd!

I thought of two different ones to post in 's journal. You'll have to go there to read them :)

I am sooo waiting for OCD icons!!

Love you!!

Re: ok...here ya go...
Damn, I thought I was the only one who does that!
Good to know I’m not the only weirdo out there, hehe.

I dream in Black & White, Sepia Tone, CGI, etc. but then if you really think about what goes through my head (composition and shot ideas for film scenes) then that should make sense, hehe.
