2) I challenge you to learn a song on piano. (or if there is no nearby piano I challenge you to write a poem about a moose.)
3) Browns and greens
4) This is such a hard question!!! I'm gonna say your "naturalness" - that whole spiritual/wise/"of the earth"/Goddess quality i tried to describe before. You are a wonderful person and natural friend.

Madlady's Answers for Sp4z
I love that you put your name there! like i wouldn't know who you were - you are so cute!
I don't know that this is worth the wait but here goes... I did this from work so I don't know if i got the order of the questions right from memory. (LJ is blocked at work!!)

I identify with your LJ name and it’s one of the reasons I bonded to you.

I challenge you to see how beautiful and creative you really are.

You are permanently pinks and light greens to me because of LJ! And they are bright happy colors which is how I think of you.

In person – Dragoncon. But I remember DiceWhore talking about this amazing and fun girl he met in his classes and how he was amazed you might like him back so in a way I met you before I met you, if that makes sense.

I’m so unoriginal. You and Toaster and Sarah had such great ideas with deep meaning for this category and mine are rather plain. For you, a mermaid. Because I absolutely adore that one “part of that world” icon you have and have linked it permantely with you in my mind.

I like that you are supportive and strong and that you handle yourself well under pressure and stress (from what I’ve observed) and remain a lady in the best sense of the word.

I have trouble with this part, too. it's okay you couldn't come up with one for me here. For some reason the challenges and the questions are hard for me!! Sorry if this isn’t a good one, but I am curious so it's a real question....

Why did you pick education as a major and a career?
May. 22nd, 2006 06:10 am (UTC)
Re: Madlady's Answers for Sp4z
Pinks and greens are my favorite colors... they're so versatile! They can be natural and earthy and spring-like or they can be crazy and uplifting and neon. *sigh* That's my color philosophy in a nutshell.... :-)

About being a mermaid... this made me so happy I gasped . A mermaid ?! I've ALWAYS wanted to be a mermaid!!! That's amazing. When we were little me and my cousins would be in the pool for HOURS trying to swim with our legs crossed at the ankle like TAILS! Ha. We were so cute...

About my career choice... I love kids. Not in the "*squee* cute babies!" kind of way. But, I'm just drawn to them. I talk to them EVERYWHERE. In line at grocery stores, while I'm getting my nails done... And it's not like I stalk them... they flock to me. I don't think I can imagine being anything other than a teacher. I'm sure I could, but I think a teacher fills a certain space I have, that any other career wouldn't fit just right. Does that make sense? As far as choosing education as not only a career, but a major also, it's very simple. I knew exactly what I wanted to be, and I wanted to be the very best at it. I figured actually studying subjects as well as the methodologies behind teaching would make me as best prepared as I could be.

Re: Madlady's Answers for Sp4z
i'm so happy about the mermaids connection! that's such a sweet cute story!

that makes total sense about the career choice. i do think that teaching is a calling and you can usually tell. it's like a mother goose syndrome or something. my mom is like that with children.

have you ever seen a tv show called small space big style? it's on either home&garden or discovery. he just goes to people whose homes are small (like NY appartments or railcars or just really tiny houses). one girls house was done entirely in pinks and lime greens. it was amazing. one side was green with pink accents and the other side was green with pink accents and it was the most amazingly cool home i have even seen.

I'll do ya baby!! ooooops, that sounded wrong, too...

Like with Sp4z i wrote this at work when I didn't have access to LJ and so i had to do it from memory. So they are In the order I wrote them out not in order above…

Obviously red. But not just because of your website/email addresses. You made “red” an acceptable and even loved color for me. I used to hate it when strangers called me “red” because I didn’t like them presuming they had the right to give me a nickname or act like they knew me when they didn’t. No one ever says “hey Brown!” to a brunette – why do you think you can say “hey Red” to me? But now I’ve totally reversed my feelings about the nickname and even embrace it. (I still hope you get the chance to write that book someday!!)

A dragon. They are strong, beautiful, tall, and brave. They could flame you if they thought you deserved it or fly you to great heights on wings of support, encouragement, and inspiration. And their scales are shiny like jewelry.

I think it’s a local convention and I went with you all for lunch or dinner to Western Sizzler (or whatever that steak place was that’s now a Chinese restaurant). It was a big group of people and I hardly knew anyone at all or was just meeting some of them so I was really nervous. I sat next to you and told you my Yul Brenner dream and you actually knew who he was so I was relieved and felt much more comfortable after that.

I bring the hats and scarves you made for me to Wisconsin every trip.

This I so hard, limiting to one thing or just a few things. I like your bravery, your confidence, your assertiveness, your ability to speak your opinions or your thoughts. And I like your crafts/artistic abilities/decorative sense. I try to be more like you in all those areas.

Any challenge I would give you I would also give myself because I think we are alike in so many ways. (I swear in some past life we were sisters.) So I don’t want to give you a challenge to make phone calls or something because I don’t want anyone to challenge me to do that!! Consequently, I challenge you to a game of lunch money! Ha! We haven’t played in a long while.

Like with Toaster, if I have questions I just ask you. Plus we share everything anyway. So I don’t have any questions for you. What is your quest? What is your favorite color? What is the airspeed of an unladen swallow?

BONUS - your question for me.... Yes, I knew what you meant! But you know my love of Daiseys... (KIDDING!!!)

Madlady's Answers for Neophyte
Okay - I wrote these at work when i didn't have access to LJ so they might not be in the right order, but here are your answers!! :)

I have to fight myself to keep from calling you Neo and half the time I think you are in Tallahassee then my brain clicks back on.

Black – black for LJ, for clothes, for music, and it’s one of my favorite colors; not black as in “the darkness of your soul” ;)

I’m gonna say a phoenix but only cuz of LJ

I suck at these challenges as much as I sucked at Truth or Dare in high school.
I challenge you to write a poem about a monkey.

I like that you have a lot of atypical interests and we share a lot of them in common. I like your dedication to Melody. I like the abbreviations you use – I don’t know all those acronyms and slang internet words. You ROXXORS with the slang and PWN the netspeak.

I also suck at the questions… so I’m gonna go with “What is your happiest memory?” (or one of them) If you don’t like that question then I’ll ask “Why a duck? Whya no chicken?”

It would be Dragoncon and your cape and your hair. For in person, at least. I have Skeleton Crew email memories that predate but that’s my first real solid memory of you.
May. 19th, 2006 01:57 pm (UTC)
ok, my turn next!!!
May. 22nd, 2006 03:18 pm (UTC)
Sorry for the delay! I went out of town! Answers in no order - doing it at work where I don't have access to LJ so it's from memory.

You have the most beautiful complexion of anyone I know. Every time I see you I am amazed by it.

Cream for your complexion (see above) or now white for a chef hat.

Any animal I would think of would be shoved out of the way by a rogue penguin so to spare the other animal I’m just gonna say penguin from the start.

How did you discover & fall in love with the Beatles? If I ever asked before I’ve forgotten.

I have no idea! How is this possible?? I keep trying to remember that movie and book so it’s blocking everything else. Instead I’m going to say one of my favorite memories is the “$3.56! What did he buy?” game we used to play because it’s odd and quirky and makes me happy to think about it.

$24.64 at Applebees. What did John and I buy?

I like your integrity and how to strive for it, your quick humor, your open heart/honesty, your desire to help your friends. I could go on! I hate this one because it’s hard to say just one thing.
May. 22nd, 2006 04:59 pm (UTC)
I was 9 or 10 and I found my mom's old records and 45's at my granny's house. The first Beatles song I remember hearing was Drive My Car on my granny's Hi-Fi. Not a stereo mind you, a Hi-Fi. I played it over and over and then I found the White Album.

I was hooked.

24.64... if that was with out tip... 2 sodas, some sort of salad or wrap thingie for you and some sort of riblet or steak thing for John and you split and ice cream thingie for dessert
May. 22nd, 2006 05:35 pm (UTC)
you started younger than i did! i was 13 and it was a beatles cartoon that aired during the spot that was normally taken by George of the Jungle. If I Fell. I totally Fell.

YOU ARE SO CLOSE!! Tea, Lemonade, John = Asiago chicken (he's a chicken man), and a chocolate/ice cream desert. I ordered a salad but he forgot it so we cancelled it. the desert thing was super expensive and i ate it for dinner :)
May. 20th, 2006 07:10 pm (UTC)
You know I've gotta ask too! :)

Madlady's answer for the Mysterious One
So I do these at work w/o access to LJ (during my lunch, of course) therefore the answers are not in the same order as the meme and often misspelled!

The British track was so much better when you helped with it. I wear those t-shirts on a weekly basis STILL.

Normally this is the easy question and the others are hard but you are the exact opposite for me! So I’m going to either say redd because of your hair when we met or deep forest green because to me that’s an enigmatic color and one of my favorites and it came to mind.

A cat with its gracefulness and individuality.

I don’t know if this is the first time we met but it’s early on… Matt hosted a dinner at his house where we all sat on the floor around his coffee table and ate with our fingers while talking the night away.

Easy to pick! I challenge you to post more often!!!

I gotta say I simply like hanging out with you in person or on line because we like so much of the same stuff (movies/tv/art/music/books/sff/conventions/Brit stuff/etc.) Therefore I like that you like the same stuff I like! I also like/admire how good you are with people (all people from famous to not so famous in crowds or one-on-one) – you are articulate and interesting and fun to talk to. I also like your sense of humor. I can never pick one thing, I’ll just stop there.

Will you get the chance to come to DragonCon this year?!?!?

Oh, i also wanted to leave a question:

What did you REALLY think the first time you saw/met met?
(Now be 100% HONEST!, even if the first thought in your head was "oh god, I hope he doesn't find out where I live, and bring his other Taliban co-workers with him)
May. 22nd, 2006 03:12 pm (UTC)
Once again i did this at work where i didn't have LJ so they are not in the same order as the actual meme. What's weird is no one is in the same order. you'd think i'd use the other persons as a guide but i keep trying to reinvent the wheel each time and remember the catagories with each person. i'm a little dim sometimes...

John and I both think you could have been his little brother. (And we also keep forgetting how much younger than us you are.)

Dragons! If you like them enough to get a tattoo then you are now associated with them. My other choice would be an alien. It’s not technically an animal but neither is a dragon. And x-files aliens I also associate with you. (With me, too. I had one I my car! Ask Tickmosis to show you next time – the light in the Cavalier is shaped exactly like a grey alien. I named him “Spooky”.)

Black for your normal attire OR florescent green for MST3K lab coats and aliens. (It’s also the color John wanted his groomsmen in for our wedding until my mom kinda talked him out of it….)

I challenge you to believe you are as cute and fun as well all know you are.

I hate this question! It’s hard to pick out just one (or 2 or 4) thinks I like about my friends. You would be a friend if I didn’t like a lot of stuff about you. I like your humor, I like how easily to fit in with the group/so much in common, I like how thoughtful you are and how strongly you care for others and their wellbeing, and I like how many languages you speak and your stories/experiences from around the world.

What do you think inspired your passion for movies?

I think it was at SarahtoAlaska’s place. You really were on the couch!! (As opposed to just hearing about your virtual existence) Which leads into the answer to your question for me…

Yes, you caught me. I was totally thinking "I'm gonna ask him just where are those weapons of mass destruction and can he please keep them off my new carpet." LOL! dork! I did not think Taliban !! Remember I was once engaged to a Sikh… Seriously, I thought (and was relieved) that you fit in with the group like a puzzle piece into our jigsaw puzzle of a family. It’s hard when boy/girl friends/spouses don’t fit and we’re an odd group to start with so I was very pleased that you seemed to like all the same stupid movies and were a geek!!!
May. 22nd, 2006 11:21 pm (UTC)
first of i would like to thank you for regarding me as highly as you do ...
my friends REALLY are my family .... other than my parents ... i really didn't have anyone i could call family .... because my relatives are such jerks ..... that i'd rather have no relatives than have them as relatives ..... so that's what i consider you guys ... my family

also thank you for picking dragons for me ..... and yes .... they once existed .... how else would different nations have dragon mythology when they hadn't even crossed paths (eastern culture mention it just as well as western ... before they know of each other!) ..... atleast you didnt compare me to a freakin "POODLE" (like SOME people *cough* toaster *cough) ...... i really am not a dog person .... but poodle's .... ugh ...... those i really have a thing against ..... nothing person ..... just dont like them!
so yes ..... dragons .... cool! ..... poodles ...... not cool =)

colour ..... black .... need i say more

oh i believe that i'm fun to be around .... it's the cute part .... just don't see that ..... but then again ..... i'd rather be like this than totally conceited .... i usually don't get along with people like that ....

my passion for films ..... oh goodness ..... two things
1] may have something to do with a past life .... it's just something i feel a lot ..... cant really explain it ..... just a really strong feeling ....
2] also, one of my early memories of Béla Lugosi's 1931 Dracula .... when i first saw that film, i really fell in love the way it was SHOT ..... as a 4 year old all i could think of was the set .... the light .... the background ..... the bat ..... i mean most people laugh at films like that ..... i always admired the art behind those ..... then i saw Boris Karloff's Frankenstein ..... and i was just in awe .... as the years past by ..... i saw more and more films that really made me WANT to do something like that ..... however it wasn't until 1999 .... when i finalized it for myself that i wanted to make films ....... i really didn't know how at the time .... but more indie films were being made since 1994 ..... so i really started to aim for that ..... and since then ..... i've been trying and working on things little at time

and yes, believe me i was HAPPY! that i fit into my wife's group as well as i did ... because honestly .... i've seen relationships go down the drain because of things like that ..... and i really can't blame people for that ... because if i didn't get along with you guys ...... honestly ..... we wouldn't have much of a support group at all .... but yea ..... i fell in love with you guys almost 15 minutes after i met everyone ...... well everyone besides Toaster .... i didn't feel about her that way until the year after .... took a little longer .... maybe because she's really strange? ..... hehe ..... just kidding!!! ....... i didnt MEET her until the year after ..... hehe
