A chunk of the parish picnic ad in the bulletin
(I bolded my favorite lines)
gives one reason:
“Activities include:
Slip-n-slide (bring your swim suits and towels)
Face Painting and Children’s Games
Petting Zoo
Horse Rides, Donkeys, and Ponies, oh my.
Lots of food, including two whole roasted pigs (these were never included in the petting zoo)”
How funny are there?
One of our parishioners has a farm with camels, sheep, ponies, donkeys, and horses (oh, my) so I’m guessing that’s where the petting zoo and rides are coming from. Not sure who donated the pigs, though!
I won’t be there for the picnic this fall. BIG birthday party to attend, I would be disowned if I fail to make it to Jay’s 40th.
(As much as I'm looking forward to going to Jay's, I will miss getting to attend the church picnic. I got to help serve burgers and potato salad last time, and it was the best thing because if you are serving you see everyone as they pass by your table, so you get to at least say hello to everyone attending as opposed to just the people at your table or next to you in line.)
