Alaska or Bust

So we had a birthday party for Kenton and Sarah this Saturday. I had balloons and streamers and John made Baked Alaska (amazingly good, by the way). It just doesn't seem real at all. Too many years near a military base, I have completely convinced myself that they will be gone for about 4 years (restationed and returning). It is not real at all. It doesn't help that Toaster move to Washington State and back in about that much time so it seems perfectly reasonable that they will do the same.

It was an early birthday party but also functioned as a going away party for people that couldn't make it to their real going away party Sunday.

I want to write about it but it just makes me sad. I don't want to imply that it was a bad night, quite the contrary - it was wonderful. Lots of our friends around, chatting, eating, watching movies, breaking up into groups of various sizes in different rooms then reforming into new groups, playing video games, more eating, opening presents and singing. The usual.

And after this weekend the usual will not be quite so perfect anymore.

Re: wierd
that is a bit of a coincidence. i think that's the word. i'm going to call it great minds thinking alike.

you have become a live journal expert, i noticed. you have learned how to friend and i recognize those tattoos in your icon. well done! you don't need me after all. now i'll have to bribe you with boxes to steal some of your time. we almost dropped them off at your house tonight to try to sneak a goodbye to Kenton BUT we didn't want to intrude on your time together.

Stoopid wedding...
STOOPID WEDDING! It made me have to go and miss your party. I didn't even get to say goodbye to Kenton before he left. =o(

You have to call Kenton back and re-create the party so that I can be there this time!!! I'll bring snacks!

Hey! That's a great idea! And maybe we could act out Yule and have a gingerbread party while we're at it so they don't miss those :)
