Halloween 2010! (The Costumes)

Halloween post three - COSTUMES!!!

I’m so disappointed in myself for not taking more pictures! But Tickmosis has promised me copies of hers, at least. Quick list: Monkeys and I dressed up as angry villagers and by lovely coincidence theyearilost did, too. She made an incredibly cool- flaming torch out of construction paper and a branch from her yard. herzograven was Frankenstein, so we attacked him. Libra looked like she had been attacked by some sort of animal – clawmarks across her face. The rest of her makeup was actually really pretty in the places where she wasn’t clawed. Through the use of patches, tickmosis’s husband was every scifi show ever done. I don’t know mcamason’s official costume name, but he was a zealot for the benefits of atomic creatures, and I wasn’t going to argue with him because his pipe was both intimidating and able to make a very convincing argument. S was a zombie, and T dressed the baby as Dumbo. (Adorable.) I think V was a transvestite Elvira. reddheaded was Bride of Frankenstein, and her hair was amazing. We also had a few serial killers.

The winning costume, garnering all but two votes, was Tickmosis’s The Fly. The pictures do not do it justice. She made it herself from a scarf, a bicycle helmet, some strainers (eyes), and horns from the renaissance fair that she used quite effectively for mandibles. She had a note on her suit that said “Trust me, I’m a Doctor.”

Interesting that you had a Frankenstein and a Bride of Frankenstein.

Rhonda's costume was great!

We would have had seven from the Frankenstein theme - originally Monkeys was going to be the monster from Young Frankenstein, I was going to be Gene Wilder's Dr. Frankenstein, Libra was going to be Dr. Frankenstein (so there would have been two married couples in the basically the same costumes - just a different movie adaptation - which I found quite hilarious as that wasn't at all planned) and I'm pretty sure Joe was gong to be Dr. Frankenstein, too.

We switched to angry mob because it was still the same movie(ish) but easier to get together short notice.

Craig Ferguson did a version of the "Monster Mash" on his show and he had a seven foot tall black man dressed as the bride of Frankenstein. He had the wig and a ripped up wedding gown and everything. It was hilarious. =o)I <3 Craig Ferguson.
