I applied for a job at the college, and while I had an excellent interview I did not get the job. That's probably a good thing, I was more wanting the pay raise and a change as opposed to the actual position. The interview was awesome! I was dressed really nicely (I was wearing my steampunk costume from Dragoncon except without the gears and decorations - LOL!) and had prepared answers to the most commonly asked interview questions so for a few answers I was even on autopilot. Also, I inadvertently did something really impressive. Because the job was advertised the day before I was leaving for NY I had one day to put together a resume, job application, and cover letter so to me I thought my packet wasn't as nice as it could be. Apparently it was fine, because they complimented it before the interview started. Ha. But since I hadn't liked it when I got back from NY I had taken the job listing and did a bulleted list of my skills and experiences I'd had already that pertained to each job listing task. So when in the interview they said something like "this position has many diverse tasks and responsibilities, what experience do you have that blah blah blah" I whipped out my bulleted list and handed copies to them. They actually read it during the interview and made comments like "oh, I remember when you used to do that" or "I didn't know you did this" which was rather cool. Also, at one point Janice and I started talking about Farmville on Facebook. Ha! Anyway yeah - great interview, great bosses, and great experience. I didn't get the job. :( But I was up against someone I respect and admire both personally and work ethic/ability (which is uncommon) and who has children so I'm actually kind of glad she got it as I'd have felt a bet guilty if I'd gotten it, you know? Disappointment yes - but much less than it could have been. Plus, my boss is the BEST at letting you down easy. Lots of praise and encouragement and even some hopeful news about changes to my position to make it a bit nicer for me since I'll be staying in it for a bit longer.
Been having a lot of fun making scrapbooks for my coworker who is retiring. (The position I thumbwrestled for in the above paragraph.) I made a "fun" one with pictures from some of our office parties that shouldn't be seen by the school in general. :) That one I'm very proud of. The "official" one is a bit more intimidating. I am hoping to work in it a bit more today. And just the other day during my walk I got waylaid by two of the school's FACC leaders and to roped into being co-historian for them, so I'm going to be inducted as an officer along with my friend (the one who DID get the job) and we'll be making scrapbooks for them. Good thing I've gotten some practice, I suppose. :)
Registration starts tomorrow. Have made a dent in some of the work piled on my desk. Yay for that. :)

But you've been really busy lately, too. I still read your LJ posts even though I don't always comment. And I love that you take the time to send the update emails!! Makes you not seem so far away. :)
I supposed it's the same lament the letter writers say about email!
