Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve last night, and I wish everyone a wonderful 2010!

So far 2010 has not started out the way I intended - I was hoping to start the new year off with a clean house. I have been working pretty much nonstop, and I say that without exaggeration, but I feel like I've gotten nothing done. Monkeys and I made a compromise on Christmas decorations. He wanted to take everything down pretty much Christmas night; I wanted to leave everything up for as long as possible, but at least until Epiphany. So we agreed to taking nearly everything down on the 1st of January except for my manger scene which can stay up until the 6th.

The plan for today was to get the decorations down THEN actually scrub and clean the rooms. We have JUST NOW started putting boxes in the attic. I didn't think I had that many Christmas decorations, but I was very wrong. Twelve fairly good size boxes and six odd sized boxes. At least there was a Mythbusters marathon on to watch while packing. I swear that didn't slow me down. :)

Oh - I did fold towels earlier. So there was some nonChristmas related cleaning. :)
Regardless, it's after six. I think I'm going to change my goal to cleaning TWO rooms quite well and worry about the rest later.

Monkeys laughed at me twice today. Once when I thought wind was blowing things around dangerously on the porch, so I frantically called him over to try to listen for the ominous sound I was hearing only to discover it was the muffled sound of the jingle bells in the box I was carrying to the garage. I would hear a sound then stop to try to identify it, but the sound would stop, so I would start walking again then stop when the sound returned, etc. Honestly, it didn't sound like jingle bells, because of all the other stuff in the box muffling the sound it sounded a lot like something flapping in a strong wind, and I did figure it out after three cycles, so it could have been worse. But Monkeys laughed at me for about five minutes. And it was worse because every time he looked at me he started again. Plus, he was trying to hide it from me, so he kept covering his mouth and turning his head quickly, but I could see his shoulders just shaking and shaking even though there was no sound.

The other time he laughed at me was when I was opening a birthday present from reddheaded and accidently triggered it going off during the unwrapping process. I jumped and almost tossed it in the air when it yelled "Off with her head!" That time I laughed, too. :)

I'm sure he wasn't laughing at you... he was laughing near you.

Had you been here you would have been laughing, too. I know this. :)
AND I caught him about an hour ago looking at me and giggling. I finally got him to admit he was *still* giggling about the jingle bells. Between your leg and my ears they are out to get us!

I've vacuumed and moved the furniture around, and I still feel like nothing looks clean. :( I'm not having a good night at all. Grrrr! I think I want a new house.

BEWARE Jingle bells in boxes!!!
You were right to be alarmed... They are out to GET US! (BTW, Have you had a tetnus shot lately?) But, oh.. I love jingle bells so... It's a love/hate relationship.

And I know what you mean... I have so much stuff I need to do to prepare for monday, yet I have done NOTHING about it... so I've had that guilt niggling at the back of my brain all day.
At least you're doing alot of stuff, even if you felt like you did nothing. I've been actually creating mess all day. Mess that I'll have to clean up later. Ugg.

I've done nothing about it *today*, I have been trying to prepare for the past 3 weeks, but there's only so much I can do.

You are taking a mental break from your preparations to allow your unconscious mind to assimilate all the information and ideas from the past three weeks. It's legit and necessary.

You can't argue with science.

Stand BACK!
I'm doing SCIENCE!!

(I like your thinking!)

Oh, and speaking of science and experiments...
Kizzy is terrified of the catnip bubbles. I had her in the small bathroom so she'd be sure to see and smell the bubbles, but when she saw the weird floaty things in the air, she freaked and cowered in the corner. When any of the bubbles touched her, she almost did a flip.

oooooooooooooooo - I haven't tried them with Cassie yet. She's sleeping pretty heavy on the back of the chair right now. Althoooough, I don't know that I want her to be comfy and happy considering she attacked and snagged my new booties Mom gave me for Christmas, darn her.

(This is me, by the way. I've decided to make a journal just for icons)

Non of our cats liked the bubbles.... they seem like a better idea than they are really.

Hell non of our cats liked catnip.... until we moved here.... Alaska has cracknip. I wanted to send some to my friends.... but I'm afraid I'll get busted for something else.

I'm giggling thinking about the bells....

maybe because I could see myself doing that.
