I'm having puppies!

Something that made me happy today:

One of my favorite instructors dropped off a giant stack of grade change requests today. It's not uncommon for him to drop off a giant stack of grade changes, which means he has spent a lot of time chatting with me in my office while I process the requests. I've talked about him before - he breeds rabbits and has a million fascinating stories. Anyway, as he was leaving he casually mentioned "By the way, the dog we named after you is having puppies." I didn't know he'd named a dog after me! Of course, once I found that out I asked him a billion questions. Apparently they got her in April and she carries a recessive redhair gene, hence the namesake. I think it is incredibly sweet, although being a breeder he has named loads and loads of animals, so it probably doesn't mean as much to him as to me. Doesn't matter, I'm still tickled pick that I'm thought of outside of the office. Sometimes you feel like a little unappreciated automaton in enrollment services office.

No, I'm not getting one of the puppies. He breeds dogs, too, and these are purebred and quite costly. But he's promised to take pictures for me. :)

Doctor A was one of my favorite instructors EVER! Anatomy and Physiology was so awesome with him instructing.

I never had him as an instructor, but I can believe he is a fantastic one. Just from his comments when submitting paperwork it's obvious he really cares about the students, wants them to use the information after they are done with the class (he's talked about meeting nurses who were former students), and knows a lot about A&P. Plus, he tells amazingly funny and interesting stories which I imagine he probably tells to his classes, too. Storytellers often make great instructors. :)

Remind me to tell you about the sabertooth tiger story next time you see me.

He was amazing. And each story was usually something that tied into the subject at hand.

I'm just amazed and delighted that he's still teaching!

Do you know that an F in his A&P classes will get you an A almost anywhere else in the country?

I cannot wait to hear the sabertooth tiger story!!!
I believe your comment about the F/A grades. I'm guessing the subject matter means a lot to him, so he wants to do it justice; plus, he knows he teaches a lot of people going into the medical field, so if they don't know their stuff they can harm people. He must be crazy smart based on some of our conversations. Did you know he used to do trampoline tricks?!?!

He's officially retired. Now he's a part time adjunct - I guess he just can't stay away.

Oh yeah, speaking of part time professors... did you know that chandler quit? He officially resigned from NWFSC. He called me on his last day there and told me about it. That whole section of the campus is going to seem weird without him!

Well, I guess I'm not too surprised - that was a long time coming. I just hope he is happier.

I don't know that he'll ever be happy. Methinks he's just one of those tortured souls. Even if he were on a beach, with a margarita in his hand, ten million in the bank, and no worries... there'd be something that he wasn't content with.
But you're right, I hope he's happier too.
