Christmas Door Decorating Competition

EDIT: I won for best theme. :) Also, one of my mentor teachers told me I should research turning my Tenniel captions into Christmas cards; she really thought they would sell. :)

Last year I won our office Holiday Door Decorating Competition with my Beatles Chirstmas Time Is Here Again Door. This year my theme is Alice in Wonderland. (Alice in a Winter Wonderland.) I'm not completely done yet, but I'm nearly there. I'm taking the Tenniel illustrations and redoing them as if they were part of Christmas/holiday story. I admit that I am not artistically talented, so the coloring looks like a three year old did it, but I'm happy with the concepts. :)

I still have a few more finishing touches. :)

I have flamingoes, eat me cakes, drink me bottles, pocket watches, a white knight, a red queen, some real Alice ornaments, and because they fell off my tinsel, some candy canes. :)

The red one with the hearts says "To Queenie, From Your King." The purple/pink striped one is From Dinah to the Cheshire Cat. The yellow/blue one is from the Hatter to Alice (it has teddy bears kissing on the tag in honor of the SciFi show). The blue and green one is to Hatter from Marchie.

The White Rabbit is reading the charges against the Knave of Hearts. I covered up some of the characters with the North Pole because I had no idea how to color them in otherwise. I thought the King of Hearts made a good Santa with his white hair and beard.

If I wasn't happily engaged, i would pine away and die at the thought you're off the market.

That has got to be one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me. Thank you! :)

I absolutely LOVE the captions you put on the Tenniel pictures! Brilliant! Utterly brilliant! I particularly sympathize with the "Christmas card list" one. Fantastic!

I also have those cardboard 'Alice' ornaments! Someone gave those to me a long time ago. I also have a set of five porcelain 'Alice in Wonderland' doll ornaments that I got from Lemoyne Art Gallery one year (Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare).

I'm thinking for next year at Halloween, it might finally be time for me to make an 'Alice' dress. My diet has been working very well.

Thanks!! The Christmas card one is my favorite. :) I have one more captioned picture to put up - the tea party - before I declare the door officially complete.

My cardboard ornaments were a gift, too! How funny! I would love to see pictures of your porcelain doll ornaments. They sound like they would be stunning. I tried a quick Google search, but didn't have any luck.

If you dress as Alice then you MUST post pictures. :)
