I’m moving! Our building is under major renovations. They moved all the counselors out into the building next door and are expanding their former offices into … well, into something. I think they are expanding the Financial Aid area. I’m not sure how this will all work out. I will miss the advisors, though. :(

I was recently informed that my current office is going to become the “scanning room.” I’m assuming this is akin to Niles Crane’s “wrapping room.” I’m being moved to a different office. It’s actually a wee bit smaller, but the new-to-me office has two GIANT windows. I’m excited about the windows, even though it means less wall space to hang my Arts Center posters and less space in general. Unfortunately, the windows look out onto the parking lot, so I don’t get the grassy view of the campus that the folks on the back side of the building get. Still, my current office looks out onto the breakroom. I’d rather watch the car wheels go round and round than the microwave oven. And when it rains I’ll be able to see the storm.

Yesterday I spent several hours boxing up stuff. I have a lot of stuff. I don’t even know why I have so much stuff. Amidst a fit of giggles I boxed up one desk drawer containing a zillion packages of 100 calorie snack pack cookies and FiberOne cereal bars. They filled an entire cardboard box. I have another drawer that had two pairs of shoes, three pairs of socks, a spare shirt, a pair of fingertipless gloves, a pair of arm warmers, two mini-sewing kits, two mini-first aid kits, and various hygiene products (deodorant, wipes, stain remover, static cling remover, etc.). One bookshelf was nothing but holiday decorations, and another shelf had a Flash figure, a Batmobile, a Fairly Oddparent’s lunch box, Wash’s dinosaurs, Edward Scissorhands, a troll, a gnome, a mini-croquet set – um, I should stop there. The rest of the stuff on the bookshelf was catalogs, file folders, and actual work-related forms, at least.

Right now my office is an utter WRECK. My coworker is moving today, so she’s going to let me have her desk as a staging area. My goal is to get everything from my office stored in her area, leaving the desk, microfiche reader, computer/printer/phone, and bookcase. By the end of the day I also hope to have them dusted and labeled with a room schematic for where they are to go since I’ll be gone next week. Someone is supposed to be shampooing the carpet and painting the walls in my “new” office today, as well. While I’m gone, I’m hoping they will move my furniture/set up the computer. Then when I get back I hope to spend one day unpacking. Ten hour days are useful for major projects!

In the midst of all this, I’m trying to keep caught up on any incoming work so that I leave nothing undone. (Well, there is a giant BSE project I can’t start until they finalize some paperwork, so those folders are going to have to wait – but there’s nothing I can do about that.) Someone is taking over my grade changes while I’m gone; another person is doing transient forms. No one else can do bachelors admissions, however, so bachelors stuff is just going to have to wait – for my return and for my unpacking. **fingers crossed we don’t get many**

You have all that stuff for the same reason Kenton and I have gotten a buttload of stuff sense moving here.... because you are you. Everyone who walks into your office can see who you are.

Isn't that nice? I went to one job interview (That turned out to NOT be an interview and pointless, I didn't know they were head hunters until I showed up) where the girl had Nightmare Before Christmas figures out and I thought it was so darned cool.

Of course in the end I was annoyed because they called ME, when in fact I guess they were just collecting people like stamps, just in case. They wanted me to keep emailing them all the time to keep them up dated on if I had found a job or not. I only ever once got a conformation email that they had received any emails and I was just suppose to sit around and wait until MAYBE a job opened up. I wasn't even signed up with them as a temp or anything. So WHY did they call me???

But I liked her toys.

So where is your new office going to be?

You know Jo's old office? It's the one on the corner if you walk in the main door and turn left. You will HAVE to come and visit, if only to see the financial aid office once they get their fancy digs!!
