Some day soon - new shower!!

We have taken first steps toward getting our shower fixed! It's been three years, so about time. :) We actually had a contractor come in to measure. He's supposed to give the details to the guy he works for, who will then call us back so that we can call Lowe's and place our order for tile.

Our shower is kind of big, so we don't think we could do glass tile in the entire shower as it would make you go crosseyed and would bankrupt us. So we want to do an accent wall of glass tile. I think it'll be neat because it's the biggest wall - which will provide LOADS of color and be the first thing we'll see upon entering the bathroom. Anyway, the rest of the shower will be in a white tile that matches the white bits in the glass tile, so it ties in nicely and saves loads of money. The floor will be in a larger version of that white tile. So excited! To make it all match, we're also going to demo the tile around the bathtub and replace it with the same tile from the shower and use the glass tile as accent in a sort of stripe around the counters and tub. Turns out we will be replacing the sinks/cabinets somehow (not part of the original plan but the demo will sort of necessitate it) and the toilet with a more eco-friendly one. Not the amazing one from Youtube night, sadly. The contractor explained to us how to do the demo ourselves, which supposedly will save us $300, and if I give up my crazy dream of one of those fancypansty showers that squirts water from every angle and the coy pond shower floor then we can afford the counters and sinks. :)

Aren't the colors pretty? We went in with ideas of navy blue, but we both sort of went "ooooo" when we saw Elida Ceremica Coral Reef Minty Brick and knew that was the one. Best, it has a very ocean feel to it with the colors and the foamy white stone bit that looks kind of like seashell interspersed amidst the glass tile -- which is perfect for all the mermaid pictures we already have hanging up in the bathroom.

We haven't picked out countertops or facets or toilets yet because when we were tile searching we didn't know at that time that we'd be needing that, so I'm excited to go back and look around!!! Yay!

We were thinking about using a very similar tile as an accent in our kitchen. Good luck on getting your bathroom finally finished. We need to replace our shower/tub... because it sucks. He obviously picked the very very cheapest. It's really really narrow and the shower head is so high I have to stand on my toes to reach it.

It's just the most narrow shower ever! We'll replace it eventually... but probably not for a while.

Oh!! I didn't think about taking pictures ahead of time. Thanks for the reminder!!! I can't believe it didn't occur to me, I'm normally good about that stuff. Maybe it's just been so long since it first got broke it's worn me down, LOL.

Oh, you described them so well earlier. I'm seriously in love! It's what I want in our "Master Bath", when we finally have one. lol. I love the white tiles you picked from the accents. It's perfect! Oh man... how sad is it that I'm excited over your renovation?? lol.

Oh the months will go by fast. lol. I saw how it was for my parents. Though really, you'll be all kinds of anxious just to get something physically started I imagine. lol. I'm so siked to see how it all comes together! I can't wait to see what you do with the cabinets. You know, my parents might have some suggestions on how to keep the cost down even more too, if you're interested. They're redoing 2 bathrooms right now.

Yea, I'm in love with Sarah and Kent are doing with their house too. Makes me want my own house even more! lol. Patience is a virtue... *facepalm* =}~ I keep looking at that rental across from your place and thinking what I could do with that... man... if we could actually BUY a place out there... how sweet would that be?? =)
