I think Facebook was made as a punishment for OCD people. Or maybe it's heaven for OCDer's with lots of free time and high speed.

What is the point of Facebook? I think I'm really trying. I know why I don't like MySpace, but at least I think I understand what I'm not taking advantage of as far as features are concerned. With Facebook, I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing, and I'm afraid I'm going to start getting on people's nerves.

I'm not really *talking* to anyone much - other than a very few emails and two or three chat sessions - but I am sending out zillions of flowers and plants to people who probably don't want them.

But I *must* send them, darn it! The rain forrest is depending on me!! Plus, to earn greenbucks you must clean up gardens, and I need greenbucks to unlock new flowers. This is worse than a table with messy plates. These things must be done. The plates must be stacked, the plants must be planted. And now... someone sent me a fish. Apparently the ocean must be cleaned, as well.

See, I'm the kind of person who buys the WHOLE BOX of collector cards to make sure I can get the whole set. (Gotta catch them all, gotta catch them all??)

So please, when you have free time, send me a stupid plant. Or fish. But please please please do not send a monkey or a tealight or a nebula or whatever else is out there to collect and send.

Really at this point I mostly use it to connect with friends I don't get to see often and for marketing (remember, I do wedding photography). All of the applications are useless. It's good for events, party invitations and reminders. Mmm...yeah, about it.

It used to be good for scrabble too!

I have been playing a word game that's like timed Boggle. That has been a lot of fun, at least. I would look you up on Facebook, but if you friend me expect to get flowers out the yazoo...

Don't tell anybody but I have over 120 outstanding requests for all sorts of things....

I don't open any of those invitations anymore and took off all those external applications I was running because I was frightened by the possible security problems that might happen through the 3rd party apps.

I feel guilty EVERY time I don't accept the gizmos, but that's the case.

As I have several blogs, Flickr photos and such I always have things to post... but am normally hesitant to do chats with people while I'm at work because it's impossible for ME to work and chat.

I feel guilty when I don't accept those applications, too! I'm glad I'm not the only one. There's one person in particular who sends me all sorts of ones. (Tinkerbells and Shots and such that I would never ever seek out on my own, so not only do I fear the applications I'm putting up stuff I don't even like!)

I worry about the security of Facebook, too. I am so clueless when it comes to this internet stuff. I had avoided FB entirely for that reason, but finally succumb.

PS - I don't think I've sent you any of the plant requests - but *if* I have feel free to ignore or delete them without any guilt!!! :)

I was going to ask *you* how the heck it works...

Ha! Thanks for all the plants for Lil Green Patch! I hope something really does go to the rain forest. Believe it or not, I have seriously considered buying greenbucks of of paypal so that I can buy the ginger plant and some of the others? I have restrained myself. I have also started to take some of the surveys and quizzes to "earn" greenbucks, but I just can't bring myself to give out my email to businesses or agencies i don't know for fear of getting identify theft or committing myself to something w/o realizing it. it's so totally sad. stupid thing.

so as you can see, you really don't want to ask me about it! I'm totally clueless and slightly dangerous!

I have a facebook account too -- I like it for the handy photo albums and social networking, but I find that LiveJournal -- and its better journaling/writing format -- is really more to my taste. I find the facebook games thing a bit silly, really.

The FB games drive me nuts and I get lots of 'em. And the security issues are a good point too (FB has been pretty keen to share information with marketers).

But I have so many Mensa friends on there, it is a good way to communicate news (e.g., changing relationship status) to that branch of my social circle. NO match for LJ for serious discussion and blogging though (nor for MySpace, for that matter).
