Oh, was it good?

My friends are trying to get me to see it and I wasn't sure. :P

I know some of the reviews weren't that flattering but seven of us went to see if last night and all seven loved it and laughed like mad. I'm not a huge Adam Sandler fan - there are more movies by him that I don't like than movies that I do like - but this one is now my favorite. (Knocking out Happy Gilmore)

It had a good message, it had a lot of people I was not expecting to see, it had hummus. We had one burst of laughter after another (either from funny, from silly, from WTF?, from surprise, from OMG they did no just go there). There were a few parts that made me cringe but overall I give it high marks and will buy it when it comes out for commentary and extra scenes and stuff. :) :) :)

this may sound weird but i always read reviews AFTER i see a movie
my decision to see a film is usually based off the following:

- reading it on IMDB.com a year or so before the film is even out (so if i really wanna see it i go nuts)
- seeing a poster/teaser poster in the lobby
- recommendation from a trusted source
- director/cast listing
- and of course subject matter (action, horror, thriller, etc. yes, football movies .... HELL NO!)

i wanted to see this one since i saw the preview because of the subject matter
presenting the palastine vs. israel issue in such a comedic is brilliant considering how many people will watch films such as these ... so why not educate them at the same time
most people have no clue about the whole mid east crisis, heck i don't even think people in the mid east know why they're going at it anymore ...
so like the film said ..... quit that crap and work together to bring the white rich corrupt people down who start the conflict in the first place

:D

holy crap
my lungs still hurt .... and i can't talk very loud from all that screamlaughing (you know when you think you're laughing but others hear you screaming ... yea that!)

best adam sandler film i've seen (hated all the others so far)
but damn! .... that one actually had a good message and some very good jokes in it

You didn't like The Wedding Singer? I usually list that as the only Sandler movie I like.

...well, I guess I also liked Airheads, but that's more of a supporting role.

He's really hit or miss. (Mostly miss)
I loved The Wedding Singer :). The Wedding Singer was an almost completely normal, not at all Adam Sandler type movie. I forget he's in it sometimes - isn't that weird? It, Mr. Deeds, Happy Gilmore, and now this new one are my approved Sandler list. I haven't seen 50 First Dates but I've been told it's sweet. I haven't seen Spanglish but I've been told it's unlike his usual stuff.

Some of his I've rejected just from the previews - like Little Nicky and the Waterboy.

I haven't seen Airheads but my husband loves it. :)

John says if you didn't like Happy Gilmore you won't like Zohan. Zohan has the same feel to me (unexplained abilities, bizarre/surreal moments). There's not a "happy place" like in Gilmore but there's that crazy stuff that either you find funny or you find annoying & stupid. I found a lot more stuff funny in this movie than in his other movies. :)

And I really did like the message that Israel & Palestine need to let the past go (however hard it is and however unjust it may have been) and just start coexisting. Too many people have died. He managed to have that message and still mock ethnic groups at the same time.

Re: He's really hit or miss. (Mostly miss)
well .... reason i haven't seen wedding singer is because i started adam sandler movies with titles such as "Big Daddy", "Waterboy", "Billy Madison" and in all those films his acting was almost exactly the same .... so i was bored and the films were more on the disgusting side .... so i didn't bother with the rest

however .... eventually i'll consider watching:

- I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (looked alright from the previews)
- Click (again .... hasslehoff gets beat up in it, so i will watch it)
- Spanglish (looks decent)
- Punch-Drunk Love (good source said it was very good)
- The Wedding Singer (everyone likes that one)
- Happy Gilmore (again ... every one likes that one)
- Airheads (recommendation)
- Coneheads (recommendation)

i have seen (and own) "Anger Management"
it was pretty damn funny, but again. sandler played the dumb/clueless one in that film and without nicholsen the film wouldn't have been half as funny (kinda like the pirates sequels, johnny depp carried the load in the sequels, without him they would have been unbearable)

"50 First Dates"
i saw it, i liked it, but it's just too damn depressing but sweet at the same time
so i don't wanna see that again
good actors, and funny moment though
