Container Gardening

One of my New Years Resolutions was to attempt to be more eco-friendly. So I'm attempting to be better about recycling (I save it and give it to my parents because we don't have a recycle bin) and I'm attempting to garden. I'm starting small with container gardening.

I've grown peppers and herbs before so I know that I am able but usually after a month I go out of town and forget to water them and they all die. So if I get past the summer without killing indiscriminately I will move on to a real garden.

Hot Banana Peppers Hot Banana Peppers
Couldn't get a good shot of the banana peppers but there are TONS of them all sizes. I'm so excited!!! Yum!
Hot Cherry Peppers Hot Cherry Peppers
I'm hoping they turn red! I'm really excited about this one, too, because there are four of them in all already so I'm expecting it have loads of cherry peppers, too.
Jalepeno Jalepeno
So far I have two jalepeno peppers and they are looking really healthy.

I want to plant a real garden in our back yard but since I have a history of killing plants I'm doing a test run. So I have basil, parsley, thyme, mint, jalepenos, hot banana peppers, mild banana peppers (not doing anything), hot cherry peppers, marjoram, and two banana trees and an avocado tree. My parsley is rocking this shot. If this were America's Next Top Vegetable her picture would be named first.

Let me know any of your secrets...I want to plan Herbs but I've been certified as a Plant Assassin. If you want your plant dead, I'm your girl.
We have plastic houseplants. I know it's sad...but they still look nice.

my only secret for plants ;)
I'm terrible with plants, too! Totally a black thumb :(

My biggest secret it that they are right outside my front door so that as I rush out the door in the morning I have to walk right passed them and remember that I need to water them. And better, the hose is set up next to them with a little on/off nozzle on the hose so that watering them is crazy easy. I kill plants for any reason but usually it's from forgetting to water them.

I did use Miracle Grow potting soil, too.

Oh, and we planted the banana tree by the A/C so that it would get the draining water because we heard they liked lots of water and we know we both are bad about remembering to water... LOL.

And because you will probably appreciate this - remember my lobster serial killer fright? well one of the lobsters that got left at our house is a big stuffed one that's actually kind of cute. so i named him Dexter. :)
