Garage? What garage? That's the arcade!

My husband just got a Spy Hunter. I didn't play this game "back in the day" so I have no idea what it is or why he's so excited about it. He just keeps saying it's a "classic arcade game" and will be great for his collection and that he got a really good price for it. He has a little savings account for his hobbies: collecting MacIntosh computers and collecting 1980's arcade games. I'm not sure what my hobbies even are, but they definately do not take up as much space as his hobbies. He's really happy and it's really cute when he's happy and it's his own money but I just keep thinking that's a couple hundred we could put toward the mortgage payment or car payement (I do the check balancing he does the changing of the kitty litter. I think it's fair but it does make me think of money more than he does...) So I'm trying not to be grumpy about this Spy Hunter deal.

I also know that after he got Centepede my only money thoughts were "I wish he'd buy an internal battery, I'm losing my high score when I shut this off!!"

So I have no room to talk... What is Spy Hunter? I'm picturing Spy vs Spy. I better get to throw some old school bombs around.

I made a pacman icon it it's honor -

See... I never heard about it either but Kenton said he thinks it was one of is all time favorites. Weird. I do the books too. So I know I think about it a lot. Kenton and I both have our savings. So if it's something above and beyond what we would normally by together we have 'our' own money. (My tattoos... his camera)

i looked it up after Eric's comments (i wasn't interested enough to look it up before) and i truly have never seen nor heard of it. isn't it weird the girls didn't know it and the boys did? but awesome that kenton loves it!!! he can get to play it when you guys visit!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!

it's not fun being the bookkeeper sometimes, though. i would love to go to a restaurant or a convention and not think about "what's our spending limit?" someday, though!!! darn it.

First off, congratulations on the new addition to the family.

Spy Hunter, is basically GTA of the 80s and it was freakin popular, so popular that I never got a chance to play it cause it was ALWAYS taken, or super freakin expensive. Arcades in Germany, for some dumb reason, always cost a lot.

Also, this is the reason I REALLY want to open up a comic book/arcade/toy shop with your husband. This way we can have a little business, which will also allow us to have more room in the house.

I'm sure you saw the recent picture of OUR garage, or what's left of it, hehe.

I'm sure if we combine our hobbies/collections, we'll have more breathing room in the house, ... or not, whichever way we might prefer it, hehe.

Also, if you guys need to add on to the house, after I'm certified, we're so doing that. Once we buy a house, there will be a shit loaded added to it just for toys/games/movies/collections/etc.

So let's hurry up, get a business loan and do this thing, hehe (but first let me get a stable job that pays enough to get a damn business loan).

it's so strange because i would LOVE to have more space (less clutter) but as great as it would be to have the games at a store - i would probably want to keep all the cool games at the house so i could still have access. so ms pacman & galaga & centipede - the big sellers - would not be available. sigh! unless he got two of those... hmmm...

and i'm sure you want to be able to wonder into your collectible room and look at your "toys" at 2 in the morning in boxer shorts if the mood stikes you. so you'll have to get duplicates of everything, too.

but yeah, would i love us to have our own book & game up here with books and comics and collectibles and stuff! we could share cashiering duties so we could still have our "day jobs" if needed untill the store made us millionaires. plus - we put in a tv set and we can have movie nights in the store!!! that's not just a dream, right?

oh - and now you can play Spy Hunter as much as you want for discount rates (free).

Get two of everything: Well, in all honesty, I think I do have two of most of my figures, one sealed and one loose, but please don't tell Michelle, I don't think she knows!

As for the store idea, HECK yes I'd love to have movie nights there, that would be freakin FUN! If we could find a place close by, we should totally get it so we CAN admire our collection "at 2 in the morning in boxer shorts if the mood stikes".

We could have enough room there to sleep on weekends, that way no one has to drive back home at 4am, we can just pass out, and then get up in the morning and start work at the game store, .... ok, now I'm really getting side tracked, hehe.

But if you guys need to add an extenuation to your house, I'll SO be there to build.

=)

you are so hired!!! john and i have actually been talking about opening a store like that for years (since we met) but i'm too chicken to quit our jobs and take that risk. so we've also talked about doing it and keeping our jobs if we rented a place in that complex up the road from us (some benefits include lots of kids in our neighborhood, we could walk to/from work) and working from when we get home around 4:30 to late in the evening 3 days a week and open on weekends (like being open Wednesday-Sunday). maybe some day we will. that seems so tiring and it would mean no fun weekends (except if we really did do them at the store!!)

i want to take some classes first, though! SBDC offers cheap business classes :)

I feel your pain. Your hubby has arcade games, mine has guitars. LOL

Feb. 29th, 2008 01:54 am (UTC)
ha!! so you have a Recording Studio instead of the Arcade :)
guitars can be really expsensive, too!! but we'll call their hobbies "investments"

and we both get to play them when we like (guitars or games) so that part is cool.

Spy Hunter Rocks! I am so coming to visit you guys all the time once I come back to Florida.

By the way, do you guys ever go to eat at Song's in Crestview? It's my favorite restaurant in the whole world...

i have driven past it a million times and wondered but we were never brave enough to try it out.
what kind of food??

LOL - though we love doing it, we rarely have the games running (like maybe once ever couple of months - when we have a gathering) so when you get back we'll have a 80's Arcade night!

Song's is Korean Food. The owner is awesome, and the food is always amazing. It helps if you like Korean food, of course. :)
