One of my activities during the notetaking chapter is to talk about dealing with different instructor "foibles". So they get busted into partners and must brainstorm ideas to handle whatever scenario they draw...

This was my favorite -

1) Wear a hearing aid
2) Sit closer
3) Ask her to speak louder or more clearly
4) Don’t sit near distractions
5) Megaphone
6) Ask instructor to repeat herself
7) Use the notes of someone who may hear more clearly
8) Make the teacher angry so they will speak louder
9) Pretend not to speak English – loud voices are the universal translator
10) Negative reinforcement – electroshock therapy
11) Bring a gift of energy bars or energy drinks

Ironically, later that evening lightning struck the fuse box in my classroom causing a LOUD pop during the class. I pointed to them and said “I do not talk quietly! That was unnecessary!”

This was in response to the 'foible' of a teacher who mumbles right?
