eeeeeps

money is the square root of evil
I just spent a LOT of money.

*eeeeeps*

And we still have a bit more to go.

We have officially ordered the tile (which should arrive around the 20th) and paid for the labor (we just have to call them once the tile's in to arrange work dates) AND two countertops/sinks (which should take about 2 weeks) AND two faucets (living in my bathtub right now). Oh, and replacement doorknob for the bedroom. *giggle*

The tile is the main expense. We're having to replace the shower thanks to Monkeys putting his fist through it, and we're doing the floor because the laminate that came with the house is awful. It's more square footage than our guest bathroom, and although the majority is a fairly simple tile, there's a lot of it. Plus we have some glass tile accents in there. So despite the horror of charging so much I think we did good cost-wise and are staying within our budget. I saved up for three years so that I could pay it outright, but I got a letter from Lowe's offering 12 months no interest, so I'm going to pay a bit each month to keep more money in our savings account earning interest for as long as possible.

We still have to get a faucet for the bathtub (due to the odd shape/size of our tub we are probably going with a kitchen faucet!!), a shower plate to match the style of the new sink faucets, and a new toilet. Plus, we want to paint and put up new lighting. And, if we are unsuccessful in our demo and cannot salvage the cabinets and bathtub then we will incur unplanned for expenses, so cross your fingers for our demo!\\

EDIT: And to make this Dragoncon related - the reason we needed a new doorknob:

Let Me In!!! Let Me In!!!
Mom called while we were at the convention to say she stopped in to get our mail and check on our cat while we were away, but she couldn't get into our bedroom. Dad even tried shoulder butting the door, apparently all the while Cassie was mewing from the other side. When we got home, sure enough the door was stuck, turning our two bathroom house into a one bathroom house. While one line queued up by the hall bathroom, another line of boys with screwdrivers queued up at our bedroom door trying to get it open. Periodically Monkeys tried to extoll Cassie into opening the door from the other end, but she was no help. The boys ended up taking the entire door knob mechanism out and STILL had to bust through. Monkeys told them to stand aside, it was his door so he'd be the one to break it. Thankfully it only did a small bit of damage, so we can just sand down the door and putty/paint it. We will be buying a new door knob set tomorrow, however.
