Happy April Fools Day

I tend to forget that it is April Fools Day on April 1st. I think "Oh! It's our anniversary!" and forget all about the OTHER thing that happens today. So we were working on some desks/bookcases for beside our bed - something we've wanted to do for years - as a present to ourselves. [info]reddheaded and [info]disbandedtoastr headed out on a day trip (or day and a half trip) which we would have normally gone with but passed since it was our "special day" :) They were going to the SpringTime festivies and parade. I grew up over there and had been to them a billion times so I knew they would have a wonderful time - especially in the beautiful weather.

Around noon today we got a call from Toaster. She sounded a little concerned and in a pleading voice said she had a big favor to ask of us. Jas & Redd were feeling a bit unwell and planning on cutting the trip early but she wanted to stay and hang out with a friend and really didn't want to leave yet. She wanted to know if we could possibly drive over to Tally (2 1/2 hours each way) tomorrow and pick her up and take her home. She had prefaced this with the question, did we have any real plans for tomorrow and ended it with a sweet wheedly voice saying I could visit Janey while I was there. (Jay's my oldest friend/like a sister.)

It sounded totally plausable. Then she asked me again in a hopeful voice could we please agree to do it. I stammered and managed to say in a very high pitched voice, "but...it's our anniversary?!?!?!?" In the hopes she would say "oh - I forgot! Don't worry about it!" ... I mean, I didn't want to let her down but we kind of had plans. She didn't really respond that way. She said something like, "I told you it was a big favor. Aww, come on, please?" THEN she died laughing and said April Fools Day.

I totally fell for it.

The three of them thought it up. I must say, she was quite convincing. And in a way it made me feel included in the trip, which was nice because I was sad about missing it as much as I am happy to be here working with John. (If that makes sense - the call made me feel like I got to do both.)

There is a kitten sitting in my lap trying to climb on the computer! I think it'd God's anniversary present to us but John thinks it's someone in the neighborhoods who has just gotten loose for the day. I love her though! Despite her climbing all over my keyboard as i try to type. I've attempted to delete all the repeated letters and symbols from her paws but it's stopping me from proofing and editing so you are getting a raw entry. SHE IS A CUTE KITTEN!!

Six years!!
